Both high blood sugar and low blood sugar can be affected by the foods you eat. Make sure you are consuming a healthy diet and exercise regularly.

Vitamin D and Diabetes
In recent years research has shown the importance of vitamin D, and its use in supplement form has become increasingly popular. Vitamin D provides benefits through the body. It promotes the health of the immune system and bones, and it may also offer help to those at risk for type II diabetes. Type II diabetes is the most common form of diabetes, and of the 26 million people with diabetes 90 to 95 percent of them have type II diabetes.
A body afflicted with type II diabetes has difficulty using insulin or simply does not make enough. Insulin is essential to the body’s biological function, because it transports sugar from the blood to the cells where it can be used to ensure healthy cellular function and provide the body with energy. When insulin isn’t functioning properly glucose accumulates in the blood and leads to high blood sugar levels. This study took a look at 1300 adults that were at least the age of 65. It found that 50 percent of the subjects were deficient in vitamin D, and these subjects were more likely to be dealing with metabolic syndrome. A review published in Dermatoendocrinology took a look at 40 different studies, and found that maintaining healthy vitamin D levels over long periods of time can help to fight off metabolic syndrome.
